About Us
Tridonic SA (Pty) Ltd was
formed in 1993 as the result of a merger between Decalight
Manufacturing and W J Parry. The equity of the company is shared
equally between Power Technologies Limited (Powertech) and
Tridonic. Bauelemente GmbH (Austria) with Powertech holding
management control and Tridonic Austria providing the
technical input.
Powertech is the largest power
electrical group in Southern Africa with an annual turnover of
R8 Billion and operates in a wide range of activities including
power and telecommunication cables transmission and distribution
equipment, electrical wiring accessories, lighting and auxiliary
products and industrial automotive and stationery batteries.
Tridonic is one of the largest
manufacturers/ suppliers of lighting control gear in the world.
With its headquarters situated in Dornbirn, Austria
manufacturing takes place in three continents strategically
sited to ensure that the major world markets are adequately
served.
Tridonic SA sources its
products from Tridonic’s global manufacturing plants.
Distribution outlets are based in Johannesburg and Cape Town
with stockists around the country. Sales/Marketing and
technical advice is available on a national basis. The company
commands a major portion of the South African switch start-,
HID- and ignitor markets and is a supplier of transformers into
the low voltage lighting sector. Its control gear is exported
into Africa south of the Sahara. It is also a major contributor
to local energy efficiency demands for the lighting sector
through the use of management systems and lighting sensors.
Tridonic SA supplies the full
range of Tridonic fixed output electronic ballasts for all
available IEC specified lamp types together with the full range
of dimmable ballasts in either Switch Dim, DSI or the Dali
versions, dimming to 1% or 3% depending on lamp type. Also
available is a full range of electronic low voltage
transformers, LED optics, control gears and sequencers for LED
optics. Tridonic’s stable of products further includes emergency
inverters and battery packs for fluorescent lighting and
electronic control gear for a range of HID units together with a
step dim option for certain lamp types.
